US 200 and 400 Amp electrical panels ?

Posted on: 15 Nov, 2013

In the US we have 200 Amp (residential) and 400 Amps + electrical panels containing circuit switches which are ground fault interrupted. These panels are also tied to the electric meters and more recently to Net Meters for pushing photovoltaic energy into the grid. Circuits from the building (lighting, power outlets, electric cookers, electric hand dryers in public toilets etc.) are all tied to these banks of switches in the panels. I'm using Cadimage's's Electrical product (really good BTW) and can't find such a panel device. At the moment the Electrical tool requires that I create a "bank" of switches on a wall (in a mechanical/electric services room or closet) so as to create the circuits that tie back to the main electrical panel. Am I missing something? Thanks

Where do I set the format of the height of the components? I seem to have two differing ways of height above ground formats -ie .4 and 400. .4 format seems to be the default, and whenever I change the height, it reverts to the longer 400 format. I would like the shorter .4 format throughout. Where do I control this?

rotating the plug text

I can select the height of the plugs to rotate to view horizontally from MVO or individually but cannot rotate the number that shows either 2 plug or 4 plug outlet so that it reads horizontal as well.

The plan symbol changes also when I choose a different wall plate?

When I try and change a wall plate to a different sort, why does it also change the floor plan symbol? Do I have to select a wall plate at the same time as selecting the 2D symbol? Thank you

Is there a way I can control what order the circuit goes between the lamps?

Posted on: 08 Jan, 2013

Hi Is there a way I can "tidy up" the wiring for the light fittings. I would like to select the order the lights are connected together so that the wiring symbols do not cross on the plan. On the attached example, I have numbered the order in which I would prefer the lights to be connected and dotted in red where the wiring should be rather than connecting fitting 1 and 4 together with wiring crossing that to another fitting.

How can I add more lights in a circuit wiring?

Posted on: 08 Jan, 2013

Hi Support team How do I add extra fittings to a lighting 'group'? I tried selecting the currently wired switch, lights and wiring and the new lights, then selecting "add wiring" but got an error message telling me that the already wired items could not be included. Thank you

Are there any UK plates with the Electrical tool?

Posted on: 06 Dec, 2012

Hi there I had gotten a trial of your Electrical tool, and while I am very impressed with it, it seems to be missing UK plates which differ quite a bit from the regions you do have included. Just wondering if there was some add-on pack I could get with them or if there was plans to include them? Thanks

Can we offset switch symbol from wall?

Posted on: 21 Nov, 2012

We prefer to use "Component Symbol" in MVO, so we can see each switch symbol. This allows us to show cercuit designation for each switch. However, if ganged switchs are located on a very limited length of wall, we need to offset switch symbol from the wall, so you can see symbol & designation w/o overlapping each other. It looks like we can offset symbol along a wall, but we cannot do it off a wall. Is this true?

It looks like we do not have options for ganging switch for U.S./ Canada plate. When we try to gang switches w/ U.S. plate, it only gives us either Europe or NZ plate options only.

Can we rotate Switch & Outlet Plate?

Posted on: 21 Nov, 2012

We are experimanting trial version. Can we rotate swtch & outlet plate? It happens quite often if you want to put plates in backsplash of a base cabinet or baseboard. In this case, plates have to be rotated 90 degree, so they will fit.

What is the difference between components & plates?

Posted on: 20 Nov, 2012

Hi, we are just trialing the new electrical tool. Looks very cool! Just struggling to understand the difference between "components" and "wall plates" I understand one is a 3d object with a 2d symbol attached and the other is simply a 2d symbol? So what would you use a "component" for that you wouldnt use a "wall plate" for? When I insert a wall plate and then delete it, it turns into a component? Just wondering why? Cheers

I cant find the symbol I require for the US switches & outlets?

Following your Installation instructions I have got the tool working (added icon to tool box) however your outlet symbol looks like a wine glass and can't find our standard switch symbol either. Attached is the basics of what I've been using (standard stuff here) for over 30 yrs. Is there some setting I'm missing?

Where do I add a description to the ArchiCAD Lamps for the schedule?

Posted on: 20 Nov, 2012

I have created an electrical setout using your new Electrical tool which has certainly saved me a good bit of time (good job!) I am now just having trouble adding a description to some of the new electrical components (switch boards??) so they show in the fittings legend. And also wondering with a lamp object whereabouts within the settings you input the description so that also appears on the fittings legend. I'm using the 'EL Electrical Fittings Legend' to create my electrical key/legend. I have attached a screenshot to help.
